Is communication with photos the same as the communication exchanged when the photo was taken? Your in a photo, maybe not in appearance but by what you breath into the subject, and trap in it what ever you choose to say. So you are either in it or your out of it. Then you begin to edit your collection and find it was the spontaneous ones after all that made the most sense, or turned out to be the most interesting. Into the world they go…

But oh dear someone is watching and feeling things, and not just by seeing you in the picture or by drawing conclusions from what you may or may not be trying ‘evoke’ by the picture. But its worse, much worse they read you in the way they would like to have you, like you are trying to communicate to them something that they want, by them knowing that you can distrust appearance distrust and read into them more deeply then anyone else has ever been.

For fuck sake give me something to judge so I can choose to see more of less and more. Everyone has the right to choose, don’t they!?

Hi sassafras, do you mean right of choice, like to execute your will or choice as a moral conviction, like whether or not to watch pornography? I think every image that has power has it because we need to take a step back to make sense of it. Making sense of anything is like making a judgment call. I don’ think its out of preference that we like to reason but its to orientate ourselves in a place that a reasonable judgment call makes up for us. Provocative subject matter adjusts very efficiently to change, or rather is very good at taking a step back from the real issue.

Again I go back to Magritte... it's only an image not the real thing B U T

in saying that... I believe all art that comes down the history chain to be read as art (ie. very little macrame) is RADICAL, often rough (demoiselle D'Avion), Urinal and therefore a kind of change maker.
Radical... the "growing tip of the root" etc. the leader - so in wearing that mantle one leads, can handle the flack and simply need to do the job at hand - act to move things forward.... in my case a curve ball to the oligarchy, capital elite property oligarchy, a cabal of people who don't even begin to know or care we are not only watching, blind with greed. So of course a few strokes of a pencil and OH MY GOD a can of eels!

Yes, but isn't it also time that made it radical? A 'right of choice' in the time that history documents may not have been the accepted right, which made what it represented challenging to the status quo. Then the photo itself isn't so powerful, but a not so provocative photo that represents an acceptable choice by what it represents increases the power of the photo by bringing you the artist closer to reality. Based on this principle you can choose which one you execute your will upon, that is your right. Where one door closes another opens.

Is TF Flipper reincarnate? Whoever they are, they are as obscure and tedious as before.

I reckon artist as legot dissident is ok, normal, we here in aotearoa do the tall poppy thing still way way too much - even here on the most liberal art web site known to - er - monkeys.

That they either abuse the right of others to think and or have nothing positive to contribute and or can only throw stones is er - as low a level as hiding behind a pseudonem.

Waste of time - like so much else on the planet - artists always coloise environments, start new thinking, stimulate and hey - dringos get to come in and make money out of it - it's the homosapiens way - if you have nothing better than proerty, celebrity, fame and position on your mind you will never really make history, art and change. I am proud feralism is a real thing and it does come from the 60s/70s - got lost in moeny for a couple or more decades and is back - why? because people are sick of this silly fiscal world we live in - it roots our environment and people have nothing better to do, no real insight other than this low level of - well- jealousy really. "some people got no choice, can never find a voice to speak with that they can call their own, so the first thing they see that allows them the right to be - well they follow it... y'know it's called bad luck"
