Ubu meets the devil (Delaney Davidson) to sell his soul. As he cannot find it he invites you to find it with him in Marlowe and Goethe, Tom Waits and William Burroughs, Nick Cave, Diamanda Galas and other “familiars” of Ubu Night. If you’re still trying to find a soul in Christchurch, please come and join us!
Faust Ubu Night commences a year of music-theatre explorations. The night’s entertainment is a stepping stone to one of the company’s major projects for the year, "The Black Rider: the casting of the magic bullets", which will also feature Arts Foundation Laureate Davidson.
Ubu Nights are quite unlike anything else - anywhere! Combining theatre, music, film and hospitality, audiences become part of an ever changing, ever exhilarating series of sensory environments where the unexpected is to be expected. Proudly supported by The Arts Centre - Christchurch and Creative Communities Free Theatre together with its hospitality partner The Rolling Om collaborates with a diversity of artists to create spectacular experiences. Ubu's Bar is stocked with the finest from Black Estate Wines and Cassels & Sons with an Ubu Special reflecting the experience of the night.
