A search for a vocabulary or visual equivalents for the shaping of ephemeral thought into material forms based on the observation of the scarcely visible, fragile and shifting aspects of the natural world.

After establishing the Field Site Archive in 2003 - an archive, dissemination point and collective label or operational unit encompassing many visual forms and working across a diverse range of media in painting, sculpture, tableau, models, video and electronic sound, this forthcoming exhibition features a small selection of painting and sculpture from the archive.

This exhibition of two on-going series of work, Nature Studies (broken sounds) and Cold Harbour (Auckland) explores or implants a series of successive resonating configurations both geographic and metaphoric derived from three locations; the mountains of southern New Zealand, Auckland city at night and the Indian Himalayas.

Each work is a recollection and reconstruction of a place once known, a track once walked, memories of passing.

In an era marked by a dwindling attention span and a disregard of observant contemplation the ideas behind these works seem to have become a kind of relic.
