Jack’s work explores relationships between embodiment and liminal spaces, including intergenerational memory and other states of transition or in-between-ness. He approaches figurative work as a kind of re-membering.

In this show, Jack explores the body's skin as a seal for holding stories, using thick skins of paint to create human skins that are shed and remade, broken and resealed.

These are intimate portraits, painted in an aggressive, physical language. Heavily pigmented, abstract slicks of paint, become skins - for wrapping the tender emotional, spiritual and physical experiences of the body.

Jack holds an MFA from Massey University, and has work in private and public collections across New Zealand, Australia and Europe.
